Founded by Kait Day, Nowaday Studio grew from a one-woman freelance show to a full-service digital marketing and branding studio working with businesses from Winnipeg and beyond.

  • I’m beyond grateful to be on the Nowaday Team with the most talented and kind people.

    I thrive on the nitty-gritty details and I’m known for my obsessive attention to detail and my knack for creating protocols and systems that make everything run smoothly. Whether it's sorting out invoices or diving into statistics, I thrive on finding order in the chaos. My background has equipped me with a keen eye for patterns and a relentless pursuit of accuracy, qualities that serve me well in every aspect of my work. I live for the details!

    I've always found beauty and inspiration in the intersection of science and art. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sciences in bioanthropology, with a focus in art history. I would argue that they’re not that different!

    I have experience as a working artist in acrylic abstraction as well as in the classroom teaching my budding students. I’ve also spent years creating and instructing art workshops to adults as well and guiding art history tours. I have ten years of experience working in Art Gallery Administration.

    Lately, my family has been growing and my husband and I are overjoyed to have two darling daughters. I love being a mom, and I’m always striving to find that delicate balance between family, work and my own passions. In the margins of life, you could also find me gardening, cooking, traveling, sewing, cycling and strength training. I love trying new things and being a beginner - and I have the “how hard could it be?” gene where I tackle new projects with a combination of delusion and tenacity. I’m also an enneagram 9w1, if you’re into the enneagram.

    To sum it all up, I would say it’s a pretty beautiful life how it all comes together!

  • Hi, I’m Lauren!

    I’ve been with Nowaday Studio for about a year now and wear a few different hats around here.

    I began my work with Nowaday writing strategy documents, and then shifted into a social media manager role.

    Over the past few months, I’ve taken on more work in the copywriting realm, and as an admin assistant, working to keep things flowing behind the scenes.

    It’s the perfect mix of creative energy and grounded organization for me. I approach work like I tend to a garden: with patience, presence, and a love for the process.

    When I’m not behind a screen for work, you can find me with my hands (and bare feet) in the dirt harvesting veggies in the garden, scoping out a new hike or swimming spot, chasing the sun, and finding joy in the little things.

  • I started Nowaday Studio as a freelancer – simply hoping for a way to pay the bills and keep myself afloat. Little did I know how quickly my self-named studio would expand and grow.

    Since founding this studio in August of 2018, I’ve had the chance to work with businesses from my hometown of Winnipeg and beyond and learned more than I can put into words.

    I count myself lucky every single day I get to work with an incredible team of creatives, like-minded clients, AND do what I love.

    My passion for working with small businesses started back in university when I studied Political Economics at the University of Manitoba.

    Wait, what?

    Yes, that’s right.

    My background in political and economic theory has given me a unique perspective into the world of small business and how they can contribute to a healthier, sustainable, more inclusive and beautiful world.

    As a marketing strategist and brand designer I wear a lot of hats but that’s just the way I like it. I’ve always been fascinated by art and music, just as much as I am by design theory and human behaviour.

    On an average day, I'm a communicator, project manager, designer, strategist, writer, photographer, and content creator. 

    I think ideas expressed visually are incredibly important and I can't get enough of beautiful images, branding, and curated content.

    I found my way into the marketing industry over seven years ago when I realized it was an OK thing to be super into Instagram. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work creatively in a myriad of different industries.

    Besides doing what I love every day taking photos, writing, designing, and curating content, I also love art, fashion, and travelling. I spend a lot of my time paging through magazines and reading blogs that inspire and motivate me. 

    A few other fun facts:

    • I studied classical music in university for a year and half before I changed my major.

    • I’ve worked with over 150 clients since starting my business in 2018.

    • My favourite food is toast.

    Most importantly, I love meeting other small business owners and entrepreneurs.

  • I have over 20 years of experience in the design industry as both a freelancer and a senior graphic designer.

    I'm based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but with the marvels of modern technology I'm available to work with anyone from anywhere.

    It brings me great joy when I get to be creative and work with clients to achieve their design goals. I'm an open-minded individual, looking to work with like-minded people in order to improve the aesthetics of the brands and businesses that surround us everyday.

    I stutter. I listen to black metal. And I like small dogs.
